Where Am I? Well, we delivered our frozen meat load in Kansas City, KS.. it didn’t take them too long.. especially considering we had to pay the lumpers $325 frickin’ dollars to get THEIR shit off OUR truck… Sometimes I think I went into the wrong line of work.
Then I remember how much WORK that shit is and I’m okay with what I chose and paying those bastards to unload the stuff!
So we head over to our next load… Edwardsville, KS (suburb of KC) going to Gallatin, TN.
So… rolling onward… err… South-ward that is!

Where Am I? Okay.. we headed into Chi-town right after that storm yesterday(?)… what a mess! Had us go down this really snow-narrowed residential / commercial area… did the drop at the Mars Plant there, turned over, and Knucklehead drove us to Manteno… the Mars Plant there (BTW we were hauling almonds from Cali). Got out of there and got a load picking up in East Dubuque, Il at 1700… but because of the weather, we ended up being five hours late! We had already called dispatch to tell the customer so they were okay with us showing up at 2200hrs.
Got there only to be told; “That load isn’t due to ship until tomorrow”
WTF?!?!?
Now the good news… they were ahead of schedule and the trailer would be ready shortly! Shift change again (my turn) and I drove us to the nearest scale in two inches of snow and ice and shit. Of course we’re over-weight!! By 2000 pounds!
Drive back to the shipper… have them reload. Okay done… it’s now 0100 and we have a delivery time of 0200 more than 300 miles away in Kansas City, Mo! Me no think so! Call to dispatch… get them to change the appointment time to 1000hrs this morning.
I make it as far as Des Moines, IA before shift change again… Knucklehead drives us to the 90… arrives at 0945… by the time he gets through the guard shack and the line in receiving they punch his paperwork in at 1017 hrs… oh, sorry.. you’re late, you’ll have to come back tomorrow at 0200!
WFT?!?!?
So we’re sitting at the Ameristar Casino in KC right now.. killing time until 0200 rolls around.
At least we got a pre-plan! Picking up tomorrow at 1500 in Edwardsville, MO going to Gallatin, TN.

Where Am I? Okay… now that the last load is done…
It was a load of GlaxxoSmithKline hi-value medical products (the bill of laden said “toilet prep”… I DO NOT want to know!) going from Aiken, SC to Fresno, CA.
We’re NOW on a run from Earlimart, CA to Chicago, IL and Manteno, IL… can’t say what we’re hauling… but you savvy readers will identify two of those towns and what I’ve ALREADY hauled between there!
Anyways… just the quick update… currently on US99 in California heading toward the Windy City (no Mr. Wong this time though… I think!)
