Got the almonds from CA… now add the cocoa from PA – 2012hrs

Posted by admin on Nov 3, 2008 in Where Am I?

Got an MTY from a nearby customer (an old 48′ footer…then hauled butt to Mars in Elizabethtown, PA.  Snagged that load of cocoa (and two bags of Dove caramels thank you Mr. Shipper!) and boot-scooted to Manteno, IL due like yesterday.  MPG wasn’t too bad as the load was light…

Did the drop and hook at Mars in Manteno grabbing a brandy-spanking new MTY from the lot there…29581 and I mean literally the gray paint on the tandem release valve knob was still sticky and the landing gear handle paint came off in my hands!!!  Open that thing up and it just smells like a new…trailer!

Scooted up to Milwaukee for a cargill load going to Georgia tomorrow… again this is a hot-foot load to be there ASAP please.

Oh well, the miles are good…already got 14k of the 50k I need so it’s all good in the neighborhood!

UPDATE:  1202 hrs – We’re sorry Mr. Trucker… that load and PO# that you gave us was already picked up Friday by Zeller Trucking Inc.  Please call your dispatch and get a different PO number”

Dispatch:  “Um… okay… hang tight and I’ll get back to you”

I pulled out of there and am currently sitting up the road about a mile, along side the road..patiently waiting Dispatch’s word from on high (although truth be told, I don’t have much faith we’ll hear anything from them anytime soon!

UPDATE 2:  1222 hrs – Because I had the time…thought you all might like to see “Travels So Far – Part II”  Also check out some of the other images I’ve uploaded!

Black Hole of Freight – 1158 hrs

Posted by admin on Nov 1, 2008 in Where Am I?

Sitting here in Havelton, PA where we dropped our last load (of dog food) sitting at a small truck stop waiting on our next load.  It’s probably going to be a while as there’s at least a dozen other Prime trucks, all bobtail, waiting for loads too!

Sucks because that means we’re not getting the miles, but it’s also nice having some “down-time”…  we’ve been hearing some rumblings that the Northeast is really soft on freight right now, so no idea how long we’re gonna be sitting here… hopefully not too long!
