Shut-down…temporarily – 1000hrs

Posted by admin on Dec 1, 2008 in Where Am I?

We made it into Jessup, Maryland yesterday in all this rain and crap without a problem… got the last stop of our flowers unloaded then headed to the truck-stop…literally across the street!  LOL  Bedded down last night while waiting for the day-shift dispatcher to come in and get us a load.

Got the load this morning…only problem is, the temporary registration on this new truck ran out at midnight last night, so we legally can’t run anywhere!  Knucklehead got on the phone this morning to the permits department to find out what’s going on and get us an extension… but if that load in PA (Noon pick-up) doesn’t have a flexible appointment time…then we’ll have to pass on it and wait for another.  Permits has to get in touch with Missouri DMV (on the first Monday after a holiday)… so I’m thinking that won’t be such a speedy process?!

So…having slept for most of the day yesterday, I was up “late” this morning working on moving all my trucking images to a new photo gallery.  Instead of using an outside service (Flikr), I’m working on migrating them all to my own hosting so I can better control them etc…. which leads me to this image:

We got stopped on US183 in Texas on Thanksgiving because of an accident…knucklehead was driving so he got out and walked up to see what was going on and how long it was going to be.  So as he’s walking back because the road was being opened back up…this rocket-surgerist decided to turn his big ol’ tanker around…down into the ditch where…yup, you guessed it… he promptly got stuck!!  Needless to say one of the Texas highway patrolman (who had just gotten the highway opened from a nasty head-on collision requiring the use of TWO life-flight helicopters) walked up to this guy (which happened to be next to our truck) and said to him (and I do quote):  “What the FUCK were you thinking?!?!”

ROFLMAO-PMP  Don’t ya just love them “supertruckers”?

Sadly, we saw another real bad wreck the same day about two hours later.  This lady and her family were travelling along when she decided it was best to roll her ginormous Expedition a few times into the ditch rather than hit the 800lb bull cow running around the road!  I am happy to report that it appeared the family was all okay, and the Expedition held up rather well!

So, that brings me up to today… we’re in Jessup, Maryland.  Getting fueled as I “speak” then we’re headed to Lancaster, PA to pick up a load going to… ‘magine that!  Pico Rivera, California!

The good news in all that… I just found out this morning that I am now at 42,000 miles… only about 15,000 miles to go until I go solo…and with us averaging 5500 – 6000 miles a week… it’s possible I’ll have those miles done when I come at Christmas!!!

Whooo FUCKING Hooo!!!!
